Introducing the banknotes

The countdown has begun! Soon the Bank of England will release four brand new banknotes. These banknotes will look identical to the existing versions, apart from one important change. The portraits of the late Queen Elizabeth, will be replaced by those of her son, King Charles III.

The new King Charles III banknotes will officially enter circulation on the fifth of June, and will run alongside the current Queen Elizabeth II versions, which will remain legal tender. The new banknotes will only be printed and released to replace damaged notes, and meet any increasing banknote demand. This ensures a limited environmental and financial impact, while giving you enough time to prepare your business.

Prepare your business

Once the King Charles III banknotes are introduced, a total of eight Great British Pound banknotes will be circulating at the same time. In order to ensure the best counting and detection results for all versions, it is important that you not only update your processes but also your device.

These solutions are not affected by the change or are already fully compatible with the new notes and able to check, count, and process them.
